Summary: A confluence of forces has led to changes in scholarly communication. Advances in technology, new tools, and platforms supporting each phase of the scholarly communications lifecycle (SCL)—from research project ideation through reuse by others to create new knowledge—are giving academic libraries opportunities to extend their traditional activities and expand into “new” territory. This presentation will explore the various ways in which librarians are helping individual researchers and institutions manage content for posterity. Parallel innovative efforts by vendors and entrepreneurs committed to the notion that greater access to research leads to better policy decisions will be highlighted.
